Emergency First Responder (EFR) course

In the Emergency First Responder (EFR) course you will learn primary care, basic First Aid and CPR, along with secondary care, injury and illness assessment and bandaging.

Pre-requisites

  • Have completed the home study as detailed in the PADI EFR learning materials
  • Your EFR certification must be refreshed every 24 months, which you can do by taking this course.

NB: It is essential to hold an Emergency First Responder certification (or equivalent from another organization), in order to qualify as a PADI Rescue Diver.

What can I expect?

The Emergency First Responder course is completed in one day at the Dive Centre, and there is no diving requirement for this course. Your completed home study will form the basis of the classroom sessions with your Instructor. The day will consist of a combination of watching instructional DVDs, practicing key EFR skills and group discussion. You will also undertake a final assessment scenario during which the Instructor will assess your EFR skills, and a final written exam.
