Delayed surface marker buoys (DSMBs) can:
act as a "stay away, diver below" symbol for passing boats.
act as a visual marker for drift dives, enabling dive boats to locate you.
provide a useful ascent line.
mark locations for mapping and search & recovery projects.
How it works
Time commitment
This course is completed over the course of a whole-day trip to an open water dive site, consisting of 2 dives.

The advantages & disadvantages of various types of lines & buoys.
Techniques to safely & efficiently deploy a DSMB.
The potential risks of DSMB use and how to minimise them.
Pre-requisites
Participants must be aged ≥ 12 years.
Participants must have a PADI® Open Water or another qualifying certification.
