Wreck Diving Speciality

Ships, airplanes and even cars are fascinating to explore and usually teem with aquatic life. Each wreck dive offers a chance for a new discovery.

Whether you want to dive on wrecks in the UK or overseas, there is a huge variety to choose from. Within two hours of Oxford, you can be diving sunken ships, airplanes, helicopters and even WW2 tanks and submarines. Around the world’s coastlines you are never far from wrecks to explore. Whether you enjoy seeing the concentration of marine life that usually inhabit wrecks, or want to explore the nautical past, wrecks can unlock new excitement within scuba diving.

We run the PADI Wreck Diver course throughout the year. The course consists of four dives spread over two days and it gives you the first-hand experience needed to dive wrecks with confidence.

On the course you will learn to:

  • survey and map wrecks
  • build techniques helping you to spot and avoid potential hazards
  • use wreck diving equipment and follow wreck diving laws
identify which wrecks are safe for you to explore inside (with large openings that are safe for suitably trained divers)
  • find and observe the multitude of marine life that often inhabits wrecks – without disturbing it!

Our students tell us that it is one of the best diving courses that they have ever done – opening up a whole new world of adventures in wreck diving.
